Holdings

Periodical Holdings

The Library catalog records holdings of some 2,300 periodicals, including 260 to which the Library currently subscribes and 1,700 that are part of the HIS Archives Special Collection on Protest Movements. Select "Zeitschriften" in the appropriate search field to conduct a catalog search in our periodicals. All periodical holdings are indexed and an additional thesaurus facilitates access to periodicals from the Special Collection. catalog search
Our periodical holdings are also recorded in the Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) and the Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbund (GBV).

Alphabetical List of Current Periodical Subscriptions
The HIS Library currently subscribes to about 260 periodicals, which include scholarly journals as well as political, cultural, and news magazines and newspapers, many of which are available online.

Swetswise (Full-text database, access from HIS IP addresses only)
Swetswise offers users full-text access to those periodicals for which the HIS Library has an online subscription. Searches for specific articles can be conducted in current and back issues. 

Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB)
The EZB is a service that provides effective use of full-text academic periodicals on the Internet. It currently encompasses more than 44,000 titles. Half of these are available free of charge and marked with a green button.
Periodicals that are not available in a full-text version free of charge are marked with a red or orange button. However, many of these journal providers offer users opportunities to browse the journals’ table of contents or article abstracts, and/or to conduct search within all or some of their periodicals. Many users will thus also profit from browsing these titles listed in the EZB.

Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB)
The ZDB offers comprehensive information on databases and periodicals of all kinds, in all languages, and in printed, electronic, or other forms that can be found in the holdings of 4300 German and Austrian libraries.

LexisNexis® Wirtschaft (Full-text database, access from HIS IP addresses only)
This database comprises various kinds of texts related to economic issues, such as press releases and other media texts, legal documents, financial data, and business reports. These texts are compiled from 35,000 sources, including 170 German periodical and media products and the most important international media sources.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ-BiblioNet)
(Full-text database, access from HIS IP addresses only)
FAZ-BiblioNet offers full-text access to the current daily edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and to all texts in the FAZ archives from 1993 on.
