Completed Projects

Projects that have ended since 1994, listed alphabetically by last name of staff member or fellow

This list includes research projects as well as other academic activities such as bibliographical projects and study groups conducted by staff members and fellows of the Institute and by guest researchers funded by the Hamburg Foundation for the Advancement of Research and Culture. The project title is followed by the research unit to which it was assigned. Please note that at the time a specific project was being conducted the name of the research unit may have differed from its current form; the research units have been re-named as follows:

    * The Research Unit: Nation and Society was formerly entitled Nation, Ethnicity, and Xenophobia.

    * The Research Unit: Theory and History of Violence was formerly called The Role of Violence in the Formation of Civilization.

    * The Research Unit: The Society of the Federal Republic of Germany was first called Constitutive Conditions and Developmental Potential of the Federal Republic of Germany and later renamed Politics and Society of the Old and New Federal Republic of Germany.

    * A fourth research unit, originally entitled Science and Critique, was renamed Scientific Development and Social Practice and subsequently discontinued in 1997.

We regret that we are unable to update information on projects that are pursued elsewhere after funding at the Institute has ended.
