Irregular Borders in Europe
(Last modified 1997)
The notion that the face of contemporary Europe is being shaped by the creation of new - external and internal - borders is more than mere theory. These new borders manifest themselves as differences in prosperity, wages, or labor market structures as well as in border regimes, refugee housing, criminalization, the expulsion of refugees and migrants, or in the obvious and hidden forms of excluding and discriminating people, people defined as losers who have become »superfluous«. This project, which was completed in 1997, aimed to capture in photographic images the situation and the people involved. The photo report was published in September 1998 by the Hamburger Edition.
