Post-Liberal (or post-European?) Russia - Her problems with capitalism and her problems with democracy

Ort am HIS | Beginn: 12.04.2018 19:00 Uhr

In the late 1980s/early 1990s Russians in their majority believed in capitalism as the most effective and fair economic system, in democracy as the only possible political system and in a close relationship with Western democracies as a solution to all of Russia’s problems. By the end of the 1990s none of their beliefs survived. How did this value crisis develop? How was it linked to dramatic moves in Russian politics between 2012 and 2016? What makes us speak about post-European Russia, and what does this definition mean? Is there a future for democracy and capitalism in post-European Russia?
