Lodewijk Van Dycke is working within the emerging field of law and agriculture. His main question is how to shape global agrifood policy in view of strengthening food security, in times when climate change will make yields lower and more erratic. Lodewijk focuses on global food trade. The security interests of states in general, and great powers in particular, and the implications of these interests for agrifood policy, form the background to Lodewijk's research. Specifically, Lodewijk is writing a book with Earthscan/Routledge called 'Geopolitcs and food security: Agrifood governance in a changing climate'. The book focuses on the geopolitical background to global agrifood policy rather than on the policy itself.
